Enterprise systems and modelling


The goal of the course is to familiarise the students with:

research and trends in the area, in particular methods and systems architectures
advanced concepts in enterprise modelling
the functionality and architecture of CASE tools
the functionality and architecture of ERP and enterprise wide systems
using and customising ERP systems
procurement of information systems
learning from international research publications

The course contains the following parts:

Enterprise modelling. History, state-of-the-art, trends. Upcoming standards for e-commerce, in particular ebXML. Economic ontologies for enterprise systems, in particular REA. Requirements engineering. Tools for information systems development. Information systems architectures. The legacy problem, methods and tools for migration.

ERP and enterprise wide systems. History, state-of-the-art, trends. Example of ERP systems. Functional integration through process management. Modelling and customisation in ERP systems. The architecture of ERP systems. Enterprise wide systems including e-commerce, business intelligence and customer relationship management.
